We (or, I) might have to wait an extra few months, or maybe even until 2012, before the fifth season of Mad Men starts. According to the New York Times, which I plan on linking to with a holy fury before their pay wall goes up, negotiations between AMC and Lionsgate over pay for the next season are ongoing, with the only words coming out of the talks so far being, "no comment."

...the delay is largely due to a disagreement about money. As Mr. Weiner told Entertainment Weekly in January, apparently referring to AMC and Lionsgate, “They are fighting over a very lucrative property, and who is going to pay for it to get made; it’s one of the biggest perils of success — everyone wants a piece of it now, and they are fighting over who is gonna get the biggest chunk.”

The article goes on to assure worried fans (me) that Weiner "want[s] the show to go on and on and on until it has worn out its welcome with viewers, and we can’t think of anything more for the characters to do.” So that's a relief. In the meantime, the more obsessive than me fans over at Basket of Kisses have an online petition to bring back the show in 2011. As long as it comes back, I will personally be fine and thank you for your concern. For all of you who need a Jon Hamm fix, let's go back to 2008...
