I know this is cross-promotional bullshit at its finest—as it plays out, you can practically hear J.J. Abrams going, "I wonder how we can combine viral marketing and a merchandising tie-in..."—but that said, I actually think this is kinda cool: One of the extra features on Portal 2 is a minigame that lets you experience Abrams' the Super 8 teaser from inside the train. I don't have much tolerance for viral marketing gimmicks, and using one product you've just purchased in order to sell you another product down the line reeks of the sort of crass marketing that's all too prevalent in geek culture, but... eh, I can't really justify it, I guess. But I'm still stoked for Super 8, and now I'm looking forward even more to playing Portal 2. You caught me right in your crosshairs, Valve and/or Paramount. Props, I guess.
