A Pakistani IT consultant, Sohaib Athar, kept tweeting about a loud, annoying helicopter that was disturbing the peace in the quiet, out-of-the-way burg of Abbottabad, calling a "rare event." Then Athar worried that a loud boom he heard wasn't "the start of something nasty."

And, of course, it was. It was the U.S. attack that killed Osama bin Laden. Although Athar had no idea as he kept tweeting away—giving millions of people around the world a ground-level look at holy shit moment (and possibly proof of bin Laden's demise; or not).

Click here to read a recap of his missives, and see the dawning awareness that the noises Athar was hearing actually had something to do with the sudden news that President Barack Obama would be making a rare Sunday night speech. Today, Athar has tweeted a video, sent by a friend, of bin Laden's compound.

H/T to reader Greg.
