Having taken their lumps from some pass-happy Dutchmen, the Timbers made the final addition to their international exhibition schedule today when Portland announced it'd host Argentina's Club Atletico Independiente in a friendly on July 26.

It's the second straight year Portland has welcomed an Argentine world power (the non-MLS Timbers beat Boca Juniors last year) and the addition brings the total to three don't-count-but-sure-are-neat exhibitions next month for Portland (Timbers Army will also yell loudly at Mexico's Club America on July 10 and England's West Bromwich Albion FC on July 20).

In terms of international titles, Independiente's right up there with soccer giants AC Milan, Boca Juniors and Real Madrid, and their two nicknames Rey de Copas (King of Cups) and Los Diablos Rojos (The Red Devils), suggest both football success and possible dickish behavior.

And like the gentlemen from Ajax before them, Independiente will roll into town with some heat (they won the 2010 Copa Sudamericana), giving soccer wonks reason to rub their eyes and casual fans a chance to see a different (read: better) brand of soccer than MLS currently offers.

And speaking of, the Timbers head south to face Chivas USA tomorrow. Mucho mas mañana.
