io9 has the news that some copies of A Dance with Dragons—the next book in George R.R. Martin's "A Song of Ice and Fire" series, better known as "those Game of Thrones books"—have escaped into the wild. Normally this wouldn't be a big deal, but... uh... people have been waiting for this book for like five goddamn years. And nerds are terrified of spoilers. This could go horribly, horribly awry.

According to Voyager Books, Martin's publisher, the embargo on the book got dropped early in Europe, and a few customers in America already received their copies early as well. Only about 180 copies of the book went out early by mistake, but that's still a lot. And the publisher fears that message boards and other online forums will be full of spoilers.

Uh, yes, of course they will be. Best to just pull the plug on the internet right now, my fellow Song of Ice and Fire fans. (Might I recommend listening to some music in the meantime? And don't forget: Powell's is having a release party for A Dance with Dragons in a few weeks, should you be able to avoid spoilers until then.)
