Tin House is hosting their annual summer writer's workshop this week at Reed College, bringing writers and students to the Portland area. There are side benefits for us literature fans though: readings all week long! Every night at 8:00 pm the Cerf Amphitheater on the Reed Campus will host three writers. The readings cost a $5, but it's well worth it for these lineups. You've already missed Scott Sparling, Karen Shepard, Benjamin Percy, and Dorothy Allison. But don't despair. Take a look at the schedule for the rest of the week:

Wednesday, July 13th (That's tonight.)

8:00 pm
Reading and signing with Maggie Nelson, Luis Alberto Urrea, Steve Almond.

Luis Alberto Urrea writes nonfiction and mystery novels. He focuses on the immigrant experience and doesn't look the way my racist brain imagined that he would. Maggie Nelson is a poet and critic. I saw Steve Almond last year at Wordstock and he was amazing. In particular his essays about Air Supply and the Metallica song, Fade to Black, were insightful and moving.

The rest of the week's schedule after the jump. Look out for Portland's own Matthew Dickman, mentioned twice by me this week alone, Charles D'Ambrosio (formerly of The Stranger), and my favorites, Aimee Bender and Jim Shepard. Seriously, I reviewed Shepard latest collection back in April and I keep rereading stories from it.

Thursday, July 14th

Friday, July 15th
