Your literary weekend is in full effect, starting tonight with the return of BAD BLOOD.

After a brief hiatus, the boys of Bad Blood will be hosting their seventh event at the Work/Sound venue at 820 SE Alder. This month's reading features locals John Beer and Ashley Toliver (Ashley is about to move to Rhode Island so give her a fond farewell), along with Karla Kelsey. The event starts at 7:30 p.m., the readings usually begin around 8:30, and there is a limited amount of free booze so show up early if that's your thing.

Saturday at the Place Gallery in Pioneer Place Mall the Leisure II reading will commence at 5:30 p.m. The reading features Dan DeWeese, Cheston Knapp of Tin House, Jessica Johnson, and Kevin Edwards. The purpose of Leisure II is to put leisure and rest into practice, to "exercise our leisure" together. There will be music and I personally always love going to the mall for an artsy event. To be precise, it's in the building at SW 5th and Yamhill downtown, on the third floor.

Finally on Sunday on the Ampersand patio off Alberta, Kevin Sampsell will be hosting Sunglasses are Planets, a night of poetry with three of our best local readers; Emily Kendal Frey, Sarah Bartlett, and Jamalieh Haley who hosts the If Not for Kidnap reading series. The event features beer by Ninkasi and begins at 6:00 p.m.
