I know I just demanded that you guys go see Kiss Kiss Bang Bang last night and now here I am making more demands but whatever: John Carpenter's The Thing is screening tonight! Presented by Cort and Fatboy (and the Mercury!), The Thing is one of the best monster movies and entirely badass. John Carpenter's best film—and my personal favorite out of the beloved Holy Russel/Carpenter Trilogy made up of The Thing, Escape from New York, and Big Trouble in Little China—the movie bombed in '82 but has found a fervent fanbase in the years since. Plus, a remake/prequel/riff on the 1982 version, also titled The Thing, comes out next week, so here's an excellent chance to see the original before everything gets all CG and tarnishes up your feelings about Carpenter's version.

Despite having seen The Thing more than a few times, I've never seen it on the big screen, nor have I ever seen it with a crowd. I'm pretty stoked. The show starts at 11 pm, tickets are $3, and you can get advance tickets here.
