An October packed with quality book events continues tonight.

At Stumptown on Belmont (and 34th), from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m., artist Shawn William Creeden will give a talk and unveil his show there which features awesome embroidery drawings like this one.

Pretty much right after that, and right across the street at The Blue Monk, Smalldoggies Magazine will be hosting their monthly event with readings from Live Wire! house poet Scott Poole, Wordstock darling Lidia Yuknavitch, and Richard Cheim from Seattle, with musical guests The Maxines. RSVP.

At Milepost 5's E.A.T. cafe, The Habit of Rainy Nights Press is holding a reading to introduce their upcoming publications. Readers include noted poet Ralph Salisbury, Reed alum Brittney Corrigan, and KBOO host Jay Thiemeyer. Attendees are invited to bring material for an open mic reading afterwards. The Eat.Art.Theater cafe is located at 850 NE 81st Ave., entrance on Oregon St.

AND FINALLY, The First Rule of Book Club convenes tonight at 7:00 p.m. to discuss Philip K. Dick's Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep? with a screening of Blade Runner to follow at 8:30. First Rule of Book Club meets at the Backstage Bar, 3702 SE Hawthorne Blvd. (behind the Bagdad), to discuss books and the films based on them. It is a free event, though donations are always welcome.
