Another weekend, another passel of Occupy Portland events worth checking out. Here's the roundup from the official occupation web site! (And, remember, general assembly meetings are always open to the public, every day at 7 pm.)

Today, noon—This Land is Our Land Rally

First Pink Martini and Storm Large will perform at a noontime rally in Pioneer Courthouse Square. Then a community singalong is planned. Throughout it all, bigshots including Congressman Earl Blumenauer and local AFL-CIO boss Tom Chamberlain will give short speeches.

Today, 1 pm—Your Rights and the Police seminar

In Terry Schrunk plaza, Portland Copwatch will "walk through the basics of what to do when stopped by the police, basics of how to safely and legally observe police, and how to file complaints." An attorney also will be on hand. Could come in handy ahead of tomorrow's planned "Occupy the Pearl District."

Saturday, 12:30 pm—Bank of America protest, Occupy the Pearl District

Gather with us at the waterfront park, Naito and Salmon (by the fountain), at 12:30 pm. We march at 1:00 pm to the Oregon Convention Center and hand out flyers to homeowners going in to give all their financial data to B of A “home retention specialists.” In reality, all they’re doing is identifying themselves as probable foreclosure targets, and participating in a cheap publicity stunt.

At 3:30, we will march back across the Broadway Bridge to Occupy Portland’s new site in the Pearl District. If you plan to help sit-in and break curfew hours bring your sleeping bags, tarps, and mats with you on the march. NO TENTS!

Camp Meeting starts at 4:00 PM, with a Potluck at 7:00 PM, and a Cuddle Party at 10:00 PM. We plan on staying the entire night. Jamison Square: NW 11th and Johnson.... We will gather for a camp meeting to discuss the prospects of our future political actions, which may include the expansion into new territory.

Sunday, 1 pm—Pagan Jug Band

Maybe (actually, definitely) not my cup of tea, but you might dig it. A pagan jug band performance is planned from 1 to 3 Sunday afternoon down at the campsites, Chapman and Lownsdale squares.

Tuesday, 9-11 pm—Ending Corporate Rights and Creating Community Rights

Well-traveled activist (and Democracy Unlimited founder) Paul Cienfuegos, a recent Portland transplant, gives a workshop on how to rein in corporate personhood. It'll be regular event at the camps. In the Library Yurt in Lownsdale Square.
