In tangentially related Decemberists news, offshoot band Black Prairie—which includes Chris Funk, Jenny Conlee, and Nate Query—are prepping a 7-inch record for Record Store Day (April 21). The single's two tracks are culled from a forthcoming EP entitled Singers, Vol. 1: Portland and include guest vocals from locals James Mercer and Sallie Ford. (The EP's other tracks feature Langhorne Slim, the Minus 5, Michael Hurley, Caleb Klauder, and Luz Elena Mendoza.) Black Prairie also has a full-length coming out in the fall, and they provided the score to Oregon Children's Theater's upcoming production of The Storm in the Barn, which opens on April 28.
