- I'm sure this is a metaphor for the game's ending. Somehow.
If you've spent any time on the geeky side of the 'net over the past few days you've likely noticed that people are a bit pissed about the end of Mass Effect 3. The why's aren't important here, but what is important is the novel way in which fans have decided to decry BioWare's less-than-ideal storytelling decisions.
Specifically, the hybrid petition/charity drive that both allows fans to complain about the ending and raise money for the Child's Play charity effort.
From the drive's official About blurb:
The Retake Mass Effect - Child's Play donation drive is a community driven effort to bring positive attention to our petition for an alternate ending to the fantastic Mass Effect series. The Child's Play charity was chosen as a charity started by gamers to provide video games for the patients at Children's Hospitals all over the world.
We would like to dispel the perception that we are angry or entitled. We simply wish to express our hope that there could be a different direction for a series we have all grown to love.
Despite my feelings about the internet's collective bitch-fest, I can't ignore a chance to help sick kids, so if you're likewise inclined to stick it to the man while providing comfort for ailing children, go here and toss a few dollars their way.
Or just send your cash directly to Child's Play. Either way.
