No one was hurt, thankfully, and damage to this Planned Parenthood—which offers emergency contraception and abortion care—was minimal. And as sad as it is to say, the attack isn't surprising. It was a matter of time before someone took the dehumanizing, violent Republican rhetoric targeting women and their progressive healthcare providers to the next level:

A small explosive device detonated outside a Planned Parenthood clinic in a small town about 100 miles north of Milwaukee on Sunday night, causing minimal damage from a small fire, but no injuries, local authorities said on Monday.

The device appeared to be homemade and was placed on a window sill at the Appleton North Health Center in Grand Chute, Wisconsin, and exploded at about 7:30 p.m. Sunday, police said in a statement.

Given the time/day it was detonated, it seems like a threat—or practice. How long until we see anti-abortion violence return to the levels attained in the '90s?

Republicans aren't backing down from the argument that women are too stupid to stay away from birth control, emergency contraceptives, and abortion. (We simply don't know our own minds and bodies well enough to make those sorts of private medical decisions by ourselves!) And if they can't successfully take women's rights away, the next best thing is to punish those who foolishly choose to exercise them.
