Let's get it out of our systems: SHUT UP, VEGAN!

Now if you can look up from your bacon-slathered hands for a minute, there's a benefit dinner this coming Sunday night for Merciful Maiden, a Klamath Falls animal sanctuary for "goats, kids, sheep, lambs, birds, llamas, dogs, cats, rabbits, and donkeys." And yes, the prix fixe four-course meal is vegan, a collaboration between BridgePort chefs Jack Henniger and Jun Robles and Vida Vegan, which last summer hosted the first-ever vegan bloggers conference in Portland. The vegan takes on hearty pub food that make up the menu don't sound too precious or diet-y, so even dabblers in vegan food (AKA dabblers in food) should get filled up. Plus there will be samples of BridgePort's in-house beers to compliment the food. But really, if rescued baby goats don't tempt you, nothing will. Tickets are here, and the full menu is here:

First course: “Happy Hour” a trio of small bites: Vegan mac n cheese with kettle chip crust, vegan red bean slider with smoky aioli, and BridgePort’s “wookie buffalo wings” with a shaved celery & radish salad

Second course: “Taco Salad” Raw vegetable salad with kale, quinoa, lentils, orange & spicy walnut chorizo topped with an avocado cashew sour cream & crispy tortillas with a light and lemony dressing

Third course: “Meat Loaf” Mini vegan meatloaf with smoky local miso bbq sauce, sweet potato fries & local seasonal market vegetables

Dessert is TBD, but we’ve heard rumors of chocolate—!
