The Oregon Book Awards were last night; I'm a little disappointed that Sarahlee Lawrence's River House didn't pick up the creative nonfiction award, but as I haven't read the book that did win—George Estreich's The Shape of the Eye: Down Syndrome, Family, and the Stories We Inherit—I suppose I can't complain too much. Patrick DeWitt's The Sisters Brothers won for best fiction, surprising no one; Joe Sacco justly took the first-ever graphic literature award for Footnotes in Gaza; and Lidia Yuknavitch's The Chronology of Water took home the Readers Choice award. The complete list of winners is after the jump.
