I admit that I attended my first "Puppet Slam" with some skepticism, but Katie McClenahan of puppet events company Beady Little Eyes organizes a hell of a good show. Each slam features a curated lineup of puppeteers; the show I saw a offered a great mix of sophisticated "real" puppets and clever hand-made stuff. The content was very vulgar and funny and smart, and the giant toad that hosted it was fucking hilarious.
