LET US VOTE. LET US DECLARE A WINNER IN THIS TOTALLY ARBITRARY DUEL.

"But Erik," you ask, "who do you support in this trailer war?"

Well.

Goddamn, Her looks like it's going to be great. Not a huge surprise, given that it's Spike Jonze, and that cast, and how creepy it's probably going to make all of us feel about how obsessed we are with our phones, but man.

On the other hand, I'm kind of amazed at how dour and dull they've managed to make Thor: The Lost World look; given how much fun the first Thor was and that Game of Thrones' Alan Taylor is directing it, this should look a lot more awesome than it does. As is, it feels like a cliche of a trailer rather than a trailer—percussion-heavy, melodramatic music scoring rushed exposition, leading up to a big reveal of a whole lot of CG and the title—and its highpoint is a bit of comedy stolen from Raiders of the Lost Ark. (Raiders came out in 1981.) I'm still hopeful, because I think Thor is dreamy and the best, but man, that trailer is a one-way ticket to Snoozeville. (Snoozeville's total population: D&D nerds.)
