Impressed by the sunshine and easy weather we've had recently? So were the brewers at Breakside, apparently. Those busy brewers (the goal: 100 different beers in 2013) just rolled out a new wide-distribution IPA called Wanderlust, which will be repping Oregon brews in Washington, Idaho, and British Columbia with a dank, fruity hop profile and the State of Oregon on the bottle. It seems we Portlanders drank too much of the regular Breakside IPA, and they had to brew a new one for out-of-state sales. (Consider this the start of a campaign to drink enough Wanderlust to force Ben Edmunds and Co. to brew and bottle yet another delicious IPA.)

But somehow in that nutty production schedule, the crew in Milwaukie also managed to find the time to toast this mild season we're living in with a Centennial-hopped copper ale called Autumn Gold, debuting tonight at Bottles from 4-7pm.

Autumn Gold is a session drinker, and its low ABV leaves a lot of room to show off its single hop variety. The Centennials spill out of the glass: piney, bright berry aromas meet that off-pale malt bill for a crisp, dry, and toasty beer that leaves you with the heady feeling of walking through a recently cooled oast house, gasping lungfuls of hop-kiln air. By which I mean: It's good beer.

The release party for Autumn Gold sounds excellent, too. Bottles will be one of your last chances to get Breakside's award-winning Passionfruit Sour and Coconut Pumpkin Sweet Stout. Bottles' famous barbecue will be roaring, too, including smoked wings, apparently an old favorite the Breakside crew demanded be on the menu for tonight. It's only a few hours away, so quit your drooling and just hold on.
