A new art community within an art community is having its grand opening on February 14 (Valentine's Day). Wolf and Rabbit Emporium (5300 SE Foster) will house rotating and permanent works of art, as well as classes from local artisans for novices, kids, old folks, and seasoned artists alike, or anyone looking to explore new creative skills. Think letterpress card-making, essential oil exploration and education, life drawing, collage, and most likely such basics as painting, fashion sketching, and hot yoga (okay, probably not that last one—it might destroy the art).

This new space will be inside the already established communal art building Foster Row, and opening day will be busy: Wolf and Rabbit will open its freshly painted doors at 10 am to welcome the more low-key mosey-on-inners. At 6 pm, artists in the building will have an open house and host a FREE happy hour with drinks, food, and chocolate. (This is not to be mistaken with an opportunity to stuff your bag full of chocolates to give your unsuspecting internet date later.) And at 8 pm, an assemblage of high-school musicians who call themselves New Social Outcast will perform some classic rock covers along with original compositions. DJ Big Booty Judy and Golden Octagon will also provide music for the evening.

This is an all ages event, which is a boon for those who can’t get a sitter on this highly passionate holiday: Lots of chocolate and candy arouses a short period of sugar/caffeine rush, which leads to an early and sudden crash (most likely following a dramatic meltdown), which leads to a potentially long evening of sexytimes for parents. No matter what your plan, this is an effective system to keep in mind. Just looking out for the lovers with spawn here. (Not guaranteed to work, may backfire, individual results may vary).
