Starky's Restaurant and Bar, a popular SE Portland establishment with longtime ties to the gay community, is now just a hole in the ground.

Starky's closed on Sept. 13. A demolition permit was issued in November. Earlier this month the property owners received a building permit for a three-story, 46-unit apartment building.
The restaurant's former owners, Joe and Greg, sold the place in March for $1.2 million. According to Starky's Facebook page, they'd be willing to resurrect the business.
"I still have the name, find a location and it could be yours," Joe wrote (in all caps) in September. "The community needs a Starky's."
