I agree with @1 and also why does this only apply to the holidays? I got sick and tired of my great uncle's racist and untrue emails that I told him to take me off his racist and ill informed email list spreading lies about Obama and immigrants. Haven't heard from him since! And why do people spend the holidays with people they hate? There are literally thousands of articles on how to navigate family during the holidays. Here's a thought: stop the insanity and create new traditions that don't involve having to spend time with assholes just because you happen to be related to them!!! Americans really do the stupidest things.

I'm going to side with the author on this one. It doesn't matter that there are thousands of other articles about how to talk politics with relatives, it's an important subject and this one is a highly resourced and light-hearted take on a very difficult topic. People might want to disown certain friends or relatives but the true high road is offering a little perspective and understanding. Good job!
