Correction: We now know that decisions on sweeps are driven by influence with the Mayor's office, which is now coordinating its homeless policies with John DiLorenzo and People for Portland.

Don’t live in a tent next to a street. There’s a reason it’s illegal to pitch a tent anywhere your heart desires in the vast majority of the country: it’s not safe to be in a tent next to a curb. This is not a failure of homeless policy, it’s a failure of homeless policing. You shouldn’t get to pitch a tent wherever you feel entitled, it’s simply not safe. Wake up Portland.
