Don’t live in a tent next to a street. There’s a reason it’s illegal to pitch a tent anywhere your heart desires in the vast majority of the country: it’s not safe to be in a tent next to a curb. This is not a failure of homeless policy, it’s a failure of homeless policing. You shouldn’t get to pitch a tent wherever you feel entitled, it’s simply not safe. Wake up Portland.
