Such a beautifully written piece about a remarkable man. It brought me to tears. I've been a fan of Jerome Kersey since those early MJCC days when the practicing Blazers took over the gym right after aerobics and your pre-school open gym. As you said, he was always so friendly and kind to all of you kids and all of us gawkers and fans. He will be missed by so many. Thank you, Ian, for remembering him in such a beautiful way.

Thank you, Ian, for remembering Jerome Kersey in such a beautiful way. I,too, have been a fan since the early days at the MJCC when the Trailblazers took over the gymnasium after I finished my aerobics class and your preschool class finished their open gym. He was always so sweet to all the small children and the rest of us gawkers and fans who couldn't wait to watch them get their practice going. They eventually taped paper over the windows in the gym doors so the crowds would move out of the lobby and into the rest of their days. He was a Portland icon, for sure and he will be missed by so many.

Saw him at Hubers once, years ago, and too awestruck to say hello.
He will be missed.

Please wait...
