SO THE AUTHOR IS CLAIMING THAT THE FRENCH ARE UNAWARE OF THE DISTINCTION BETWEEN CONIFEROUS TREES AND DECIDUOUS TREES? PROTIP: THE FRENCH WORDS FOR EVERGREEN WOULD EITHER BE 'FEUILLES PERSISTANTE' OR 'CONIFERE'.
2
HOW MANY WORDS DO THE FRENCH HAVE FOR RAIN?
3
Graham, there are conifers that are not evergreen, and there are evergreens that are not confiers.

Also, "feuilles persistante" is two words.
4
Keep Portland buttholes. This is more than ridiculous and I would feel complete stupidity participating in this , what the French call " gayness ".
5
Actually Phallacy I believe the trendier French comment would be "Tres Ghey"

I live in Antwerp and I can confirm that European urbanites know shit about trees. In fact, they'll rip them out any time they do the smallest street repairs.

I'm super excited to hear there's some Portland influence making it over the ocean. Bikes are big here, but it would be nice to see some recycling and a few more second hand stores. Europeans are humanists, not environmentalists...

Portland needs a better motto now. Get Portland NORMAL!
8
@7: "Keep Portland Weird" is just about the most unique, most identity-building motto a city could have. It succinctly encompasses the sheer authenticity and pioneer spirit of our community.
9
So can Portlanders living in Paris get in free? Ya know, to represent.

@Oregometry: You know it all started with "Keep Austin Weird" right? There's nothing unique about it. Plus, it's obnoxious. I consider myself a weirdo, and I hate it when normals fly the KPW flag so they can feel unique, when they really aren't. KPW is nothing but a bumper sticker for suburbanites who want to seem cool.

If anyone needs me, I'll be in the other room patting myself on the back.

Nicely trolled, Oregometry.
Nicely trolled.
