Just my opinion, but an officer killing a pit bull should always be within departmental policy. It's the canine equivelant of defusing un-exploded oridance; maybe it's safe... maybe you lose a hand when it goes off.

It's really a shame those dogs must have been bred to be so aggressive. They came into the world as nice puppies before some dumb-ass human raised them to kill. I can't say whether it was right for the cops to shoot the dogs, but Graham, either way it's a tragedy. And killing a pit bull should NOT "always be within departmental policy." What do you want, a Portland stormtrooper unit with Uzis to go around looking for canines to might growl at them?

@Brain Libby

You are stupid.

A. Pit bulls are bred to be aggressive. So it follows that it is a question of nature over nurture and no "nice puppy" was trained to be aggressive. They just are that way from birth.

B. The dogs that that the office killed had already killed two dogs and maimed another dog. The Pit Bulls presented a clear and present danger to both the remaining dog and the officers present.

C. Good job at dodging a Godwin with the stormtrooper comment. I'd be surprised if the PPB even has Uzis. Most likely they've got AR-15s. And no, I don't want the PPB to be in charge of rounding up Pit Bulls and euthanizing them. I'd want Animal Control and OSPCA to be in charge of that.

The Owners should be prosecuted for animal cruelty and criminal negligence, those dogs were raised to be aggressive by some ignorant poor excuse for a human being and they should be heald responsible.

Ha ha, HEALd responsible... I see what you did there.

Oh, you just misspelled held? That's not how heeled is spelled anyway, you say?

Never mind.

Good shooting PPB! Shooting aggressive Pit Bulls is far more useful than tasing homeless people.

Please wait...
