This is a great movie and on Netflix instant too.. go watch it.

"Being There" is in my Top 10. Another from the same time period is "Heaven Can Wait."

I was 11-12 years old when they came out. They made their way to the Palace Theatre in Silverton, Ore. and left a mark on me.

That film rules hard. I haven't seen Ashby's others, but many scenes have supremely choreographed blocking. Check for instance the dinner scene for 3 in the mansion.

It was Peter Sellers' lifelong ambition to do a film from the play and the playwright's lifelong vow that it would never be filmed. Sellers invited Kosiński to lunch on some other pretext and cornered him, preventing him from leaving until he agreed to filming, ultimately under the condition he screenwrite. Imagine being cornered by a crazy Peter Sellers!!
