Havig eaten at Nick's... the hot dogs are more like Slim Jims than hot dogs. Just be forewarned.
2
With a bright and charismatic volunteer spokesperson like Jason, this surely can't miss!

Hoodies in da hoods!
3
Nick's seats about 20 people. Seems like an appropriately sized venue for this endeavor.

Key words "Across the Portland Metro Area". This thing is gonna be funded by crazy fundies in the suburbs. Fact. I suspect this is gonna be the opposite of the Bus Project (which takes Portlanders and buses them to the suburbs to canvass for politicians). There are going to be alot of Greshamites walking Portland neighborhoods.

Jason really doesn't sound like someone I would want to spend much time with.

And not paying for signatures? They Are FRACKED.

I hope Matt takes lots of pictures and posts them. Maybe we can start figuring out who is really behind the recall. I wonder if they'll bother showing up though.
6
Can we hold the "if it's not your city then why do you care" apathy rally at Zach's Shack then?
7
The recall people are dippy twats, but Adams has really been the most craptastic mayor I've ever seen. His brain seems to be a compass that's always pointing towards 'bad idea' no matter what the issue is

It's truly disappointing, because prior to his election he appeared somewhat capable.
8
there is a a whole lot of Portlanders that live between E. 82nd and E. 162nd,who have no love for the mayor. My money is on the recall campaign qualifying. beyond that...who knows?
9
Hey "bright and charismatic"...isn't that a line from the NYT story describing the sad fall from grace of our FUCKING catastrophe of a mayor?

I'm getting my Grateful Dead solidarity hoodie ready.

Jasun is an admirable figure and I just hope he has the armor for all the insults, derision, vitriol, and, worst of all, the APATHY that has led to our crisis of horrible leadership.

Onwards, gentle trolls.

If Sam Adams made the exact same decisions he's made so far, but with an (R) next to his name, every fuzzy hipster in the town would be marching on city hall with energy-efficient torches and sustainable bamboo pitchforks.

I know it's cool and all to have the first openly-gay mayor of a major US city, but honestly, he's a really bad openly-gay mayor.
11
someone please correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't believe there is either an (R) or a (D) listed next to any mayoral candidates name in the voters pamphlet or on the ballot.
12
Do they serve "Bucket of Dicks" at Nick's? I hear it's a secret favorite of bigoted suburbanites.
13
Let’s see:

Graham making a snarky comment (check)
Garrett being a bully (check)
Will saying something off color and disgusting (check, check)

Looks like I am a little late for this party but absolutely nothing new going on.

To Whom It May Concern here is my RSVP for Nicks: Attending (2)
Thank you.

Hey. Hey! I've got an idea. Scavenger hunt! Go there and see if you can meet a crazy from every suburb in the metro. Should be pretty easy.
15
On a serious note, I don't like what Sam's been doing. But that doesn't mean I'll be complicit in an abuse of our mayoral recall funded by an opaque source, fueled by ignorant bigots, and created for the wrong reasons.
16
Will, am I hearing you right? You want Sam out of office but since you don't like some of the people that also want him out, he should stay? That’s like saying "I didn't vote for Obama because the rude jerks at my office voted for Obama." It makes no sense. There are many people who oppose Sam Adams, you don't have to align yourself with some fringe minority that you disagree with.

One more example for you. I oppose the death penalty. Unfortunately a lot of serial killers also oppose the death penalty but for entirely different reasons, mind you. I still oppose the death penalty even if some of my fellow opposers I find quite despicable.

See you at Nicks.
17
@rondine Nope. I don't like some of the things he's done/supported in office, but I don't think he's done anything to justify a recall. It's heavy-handed and I think it's a political abuse of the system, regardless of the repeated claims that the movement is "apolitical" (ridiculous!) and non-religious.

Please wait...
