The clause: "During a lawful abortion performed with the pregnant woman’s consent to the abortion or with the consent of a person authorized to act on the pregnant woman’s behalf;"

Does not seem to be an "attempt to make headway" to ban abortion

Roberts didn't intend to kill the baby. She [allegedly] killed the mother, and was attempting to steal the baby. Even if this law has been passed years ago, she'd be charged with one murder, and one [possibly involuntary] manslaughter, which would result in a very similar sentence to just committing one murder in the first place.

As such, I'm not sure what the point of this law is at all, it certainly wouldn't have had much effect on this case.

We don't need this law. It won't prevent a single crime. It's totally pointless beyond satisfying some Republicans sense of justice.

On that note we don't need an anti bullying law either. Or the one banning toy lighters. Or the one banning talking on the phone. Or the one banning dish detergent. Or the one banning cigarette machines in bars ... ad nauseum

D has the right idea. Why so many laws? When are they gonna outlaw no sharp corners on coffee tables? I stubbed my toe and it fucking hurts.

Please wait...
