It's pupu platter, not puu-puu platter. I know Tiki Kon calls it that (so it's not your fault) but they're wrong.
The first is pronounced 'poo poo' and means potluck, or sharing of many small food dishes.
Puu puu (more accurately written pu'upu'u) is pronounced 'poo-oo poo-oo' and means hill or mound. Like, the current main lava vent on Kilauea is called Pu'u O'o (hill of the o'o bird).
