The council does this crap all the time and it is nothing more than pandering to their local constitutents.

Resolution to support single payer health care.
Resolution to oppose the Iraq War.
etc.. etc..

The federal government doesn't give a lusty fart what the Portland City Council thinks. If they did, we wouldn't be having to spend a bazillion dollars on a water filtration system we don't need.

Stick to city business guys.

I bet all those employees headed for the unemployment line are feeling warm fuzzies about Randy's pay raise, the one he & the rest of the council voted for.
