I think the point of that story was for the Oregonian to acknowledge the anti-immigrant crackers who are super-pissed about crimes committed by illegals. There have been a bunch of high profile crimes committed by illegals in Oregon over the last few years. The crackers are real pissed about it. For this reason (I believe) local jails have started routinely deporting many people who look illegal when they get arrested. Once again, the Oregonian sees itself as a political entity and acts accordingly. Such hacks.
