(I've always assumed that the quality of the relationship should result in the quality of the break up. FBs can be broken up with by just stopping sleeping with them, were as if it was more serious, (you call her your girlfriend/boyfriend, not "your ex-gf and her new bf") then you need to say/do something more than that. Unless of course, the other person isn't getting the hint, which seems to be the case here.) Also, it generally takes two [or more] to have sex and so unless you are claiming that they raped you, who exactly was initiating it is kind of nebulous [read: easy for the people to be confused on.]
