I'll say what I said about that company again: Who in their right mind would want to give their name, address, and signature to 7 thieves, 2 forgers, and a stalker? Honestly, the sex offenders strike me as the safest of the bunch.
A really sad state of affairs. 1) The state Dem. Party is a patronage machine, controlled by cronies of Neil Goldschmidt (who's just lurking in the shadows, trying to time his re-emergence into public life), and 2) the only marginally viable opposition to this machine is a bunch of fraudulent, right wing nutjobs.
So, if you have legitimate issues with a machine pol (say, Sam Adams), your allies will discredit your cause in the eyes of progressives.
I like how, in the wording of the Merc, the initiative process "forces" people to defend their positions. Why not change the law so that only initiatives from people you like are brought to the ballot, then? Or, even better, get rid of initiatives altogether?
Blabby - there have been no signs at all that the recall would have a snowflake's chance in hell of passing if it goes to the ballot. If it did, it wouldn't take two goes to get a few thousand signatures.
Given that reality - are you willing to waste tens (or even hundreds) of thousands of tax dollars running an election that's a foregone conclusion? Because I'm not.
Stu, I don't believe for a single second that you're concerned with the cost of the election. If this were some initiative you supported, you wouldn't give a rats ass about the cost. You don't think he should be recalled. Fine. But just say it. This "we'll waste money" crap is ridiculous.
If it was an initiative I supported, I would want it to be on the ballot at the same date as other elections that are happening anyway. Then the cost is minimal. Holding a special recall election is a gigantic waste of my (and your) money.

Why don't you just call him on the phone at 503-799-7919 instead of shit talking online.
