'I asked her if she thought the Governor was setting up a false dichotomy: build this imperfect, $3.6 billion, 10 lane bridge or suffer the failures of the current one. "Isn't there room for a better option?"'
At least you don't inject your own biases into your "journalism."
Honestly, I wish the two states would just push this through and tell self-important Portlanders to go F themselves.
@blabby: For how often you talk about how much of a true Portlander you are, and how much you seem to value your opinion over that of just about everyone else.... Um... You ARE a self-important Portlander, so...um... Go fuck yourself?
@smirk: How many times in a row are you going to make this 1-5 vs I-5 typo? Are you making these mistakes jsut so that I have something to complain about?
"This time around, traffic engineers set up posters on a frigid dock next to the I-5 bridge, demonstrating the $20 million in repairs the bridge needs"
(snark) So we're going to spend over three $billion (with a B) to avoid having to do twenty $million (with an M) in repairs?
For the math-challenged, you can do $20 million in repairs 180 times before you reach $3.6 billion.
(Yes, I know, the CRC proposal entails a lot more than that -- but then why did the event organizers focus on this detail?)
Why don't they buy a few more tugboats and old garbage barges and they can ferry their goddamn murder boxes across the river on those. They can even have hot blondes on roller skates serve bacon sandwiches to the drivers as they wait. They can make it a big party every day and keep pretending they're not murdering people all over the world! It'll be awesome. : D
This is absurd. Rep. Kotek really thinks it's a good idea just because it's the only idea on the table? If that's the case, then the cap and trade bill in Congress is going to halt all global warming immediately!
This ridiculous, exclusive push for a bad bridge needs to stop. Showing the nation how to build a "green bridge" by replacing a six-lane bridge with a ten-lane bridge!? How in the world is that "green!?"
