I find it interesting that one of these events is being sponsored by one of Randy's biggest and most vocal haters.

If I send you my report and my pictures, can I call myself an official Mercury Intern?

Since you cut our last thread off at 800 posts, we are gonna have to talk about Mary Volm here instead.

Do you have any guess as to why she is avoiding the Mercury? Simply refusing to talk to you says more about her than anything she might actually say. At this point, one has to wonder if she "isn't a serious candidate" or "is unwilling to deal with dissenting opinions" or "holds personal grudges" or any number of other things. I mean, a political candidate that can't return calls from the media in a week is, AT BEST, incompetent.

I hope Ed isn't offering his guests anything of value because that would be a violation of city election rules and would disqualify him from public financing (although I doubt he'll qualify anyway).

@Matthew D

Funny, I see so many ways to contact Volm on her webpage in which you personally could talk with her.

How about you contact her and then report back to the rest of the class what you learned:

@talken with Volm:
1) I don't drink coffee.
2) Matt Davis has been trying to get on her schedule for a week, and he is important and has contacts, where as I'm not, so I figure it will be after the primary before I actually got to the top priority on her schedule.
3) I don't have time to interview each candidate personally, (nor do they have time to talk to each voter individually,) that is why we have something called the NEWS MEDIA to do it for us.
4) Because if this is how she treats newspaper reporters, I bet she isn't very fun to actually hang out with in real life either, and I'd be alone than with someone unpleasant.

But besides those thing, sure, why not?

There is several opportunities for you to connect with Mary Volm. Happy Hour-meet and greets are planned at local small business across the city for the next four weeks.

I cant imagine, why I would as a candidate, want to talk to a hostile, misinformed and biased reporters; when on limited time, so many positive reporters are happy to talk to you.

I dont know, what would you do as a candidate?

I must say, Matt Davis has been doing some good reporting on police corruption and encourage him to do more.

Anyone who would like to meet Mary Volm and discuss her vision for Portland, tonight is an opportunity. http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=3678…
