Gee, maybe some of them would like to come in here and get acquainted with all of us, and we could begin a discussion that goes on for a week...
2
These KATU comments are extraordinarily coherent compared to what you find on the Oregonian's site. There's not one mention of Obama being satan or how the Mexicans are ruining everything. And just a single reference to Sam Adams being a pedophile!
3
That's quite the gaggle of trolls.

I think bikers get a bad rap: deservedly. There are just as many asshole bikers as apparently asshole car drivers.

PEDS UNITE!

"There are just as many asshole bikers as apparently asshole car drivers."

So that being your logic, we shouldn't build roads for car drivers?
6
"Who is paying for all of this Mr. Adams?! Last I heard, cyclists don't contribute any money for all their paths and lanes. Doesn't Portland have more pressing and urgent matters than all the attention and money that is going toward their wants?β€”SaraM"

Is that Ms Mirk's sock puppet? You know, "People who are afraid to identify themselves have things to hide. I'm not afraid to identify myself--I use my real name."

(Ahh, that line will never get old.)

"So that being your logic, we shouldn't build roads for car drivers?"

I'm failing to see the logic jump, but sure, I'll play along.

We should stop building minor inlets of roads for cars in most residential areas. Paved Roads should be built to large distribution areas for ease of transport. Residential and inlaid areas should be bike and ped-primary, with gravel or low-maintenance roads. Tax benefits for people having lower commute distances, and population control (hey as long as I have a soapbox, population is the #1 cause of most of our planet's woes, so why not?)

I ride my bike in the rain because I enjoy the exercise and want to do my small part to protect the environment. I am astonished that people can be so incredibly ignorant!

No...it never will

You just KNEW that last week's leaked report on a fractional decline in bike commuter numbers would be the rallying point for those poor, deprived, horribly under-served car drivers who have to slow down sometimes behind a cyclist.

I feel so sorry for them, getting to that red light up ahead ten seconds late. Their lives must suck. And it's all my fault 'cause I ride a bike. Guess I'll go eat worms.

That'll be KATU, the Willamette Week's chosen "news partner"? Hmm, it's all starting to make sense...

Whenever I read comments on KATU, I always picture any reference to Sam as including a punctuating shot of the commenter turning to face the fourth wall and going "...and Saaaaaam Adammmmssssss!" to the riotous applause of their hyurk hyurk yokel buddies.

"Bikes are terrible, they eat babies, kill puppies and pollute more than cars. I really think this city is being ruined by bikes.

*slow turn with a wide half-toothed grin*

...and Saaaaaaam Adammmmmsssssss!"

Those fine folks would show up here, but at the moment they're too busy making the transition from the Recall Sam campaign to organizing Mary Volm's run for city council.
14
IF just half of Portland voters feel like the reporters on this week's KGW's Straight Talk, Volm may take the primary.

Then again the KGW show and the guest are homophobic arch conservatives.

commuting is down in all areas; walking, driving, biking, bussing, because people are working less, period.

Please wait...
