"But, honestly, I don’t want to talk about nitpicky politicking."

Have I taught you NOTHING over the last year?

"Why would you take $10,000 from such an egregious polluter when as governor you are responsible for enforcing violations?" Bradbury asked. Kitzhaber responds, "I am insulted, incensed and extraordinarily disappointed."

From the cheap seats, it looks like Gov. Kitzhaber has hired (thanks to his friends/donors) the "best" in campaign politics. When polled recently (although leaning Bradbury), I told the caller from McGuire Research that if the general election pitted Kitzhaber against Dudley I would (without wavering) vote for Kitzhaber. (The pollster made me repeat this three times).

Whereas I have a wavering opinion in this race, I by no means have a dog in this fight. But I do also have an opinion about the campaign contributions from Frank Foti (who looks like he likes to "support" - read "buy off" - incumbents). The donations from this big time corporate polluter look dirty.

This is what disappoints me with the former Governor's reaction. a) The "How dare you?" routine came off scripted and phony, b) The update/follow up (that years earlier, Bradbury received a contribution from Foti) doesn't cover Kitzhaber. He still needs to answer the voters on this issue. c) Conflating contributions from polluters with support from the Oregon Education Association is ridiculous, and d) this gem just in from Kitzhaber's online media mouthpiece, Kari Chisholm of Mandate media, the favorite bulldog of establishment Dems:

"If it had been me, you'd have to restrain me from decking the guy." Posted by: Kari Chisholm | Mar 31, 2010 2:46

Especially in this era of amplified acrimony, that Team Kitzhaber would at all be associated with threats of violence is despicable.

Not only should he donate the dirty money to a good cause (returning it would only enrich polluter Foti), he should disassociate himself from staffers and agencies who advocate violence.

Kitzhaber may well get my vote. But what I really want him to receive is my continued respect.

Please wait...
