I'm guessing this will stay at the bottom of my book stack for an even longer time to come.

If anything, they get worse. The second book was okay, but the third one goes completely off the rails in a profound "WTF?!" sort of way and I stopped reading them after that.

I, too, recently finished watching all five deliriously dramatic, sexy and at times cheesy seasons of Dexter. I had veritable, certifiable, undeniable NIGHTMARES after watching the finale of Season 5. Then I read the book. I envy you because you are so decided about the conclusions you reached after reading -- I, however, am still not sure. I thought Dexter's voice in the book seemed a lot like what Michael C. Hall was TRYING to sound like, but it turns out that he actually came up with something better for the show. I know that I don't like that Deb has a huge rack in the book, nor do I like that Maria's name is "Migdia," although I do appreciate Lindsay's attempt at a more genuine multicultural Miami. With that said, I will probably spend $10 or so on book two. I'll let you know how it goes.

Only four seasons have come out. They first season of the show and book mirror each other, but after that the books are terrible, and the TV writers do a much better job with the character.

Please wait...
