Fuckin Screen Door. There's absolutely no reason for that joint to have a permanent 45 min wait for anything. Know what? The Dixie serves breakfast now, and lo and behold, just like their dinner menu, it's BETTER than what the Screen Door offers. Not to say Screen Door is a bad spot, not at all, but there are too many great breakfast spots in Portland for people to be standing around waiting 40 minutes to get some goddamned eggs.
I live near Screen Door and have enjoyed dinner and alcohol there, but I have never been able to bring myself to wait for brunch. The other day, I attempted to go at 8:50am. Apparently they open at 9am. There was a line. Down the block. I was tempted to harangue everyone to go elsewhere, but I think most of them were from out of town and that seemed mean.
And I agree re: Side Door. There's too much awesome food in this town to justify waiting 30+ minutes for anything.
For what it's worth, I've eaten Screen Door's brunch about 4 or so times by now and have never waited longer than 20-30 minutes.
