You know what's funny? There's two people in that photo in "blue." You see, because as the Joke Explainer... That woman next to Reese has blue hair! So funny! Was that joke intetional?

And it continues...I was on the streetcar last night after a wonderful evening of listening to Maya Angelou speak and dessert at the Melting Pot. We sit down and a man across from us starts sighing and looking at us with disgust. My girlfriend puts her arm around me and he says "Jesus Christ!". I figure out that he has an issue with two women sitting together. I lean over, kiss her on the cheek, and thank her for a wonderful evening. He says, "Fucking lesbian women." That was enough for me. I responded and told him to shut up, along with a few other things. Just like my brothers who were assaulted this weekend, I'm not going to be disrespected for minding my own business. Was it a crime? Probably not, but it was hateful all the same. To my straight friends, I will always fight for your right to be in public with your loved one without fear of unwarranted consequences. Will you do the same for me?

I know how it is, I grew up on the southern Oregon coast and didn't drive a big truck or chew Kodiak... Is it still gay-bashing even if you're straight?
4
tk--absolutely. one of the most under discussed aspects of queer-bashing or queer-bullying is that it doesn't really matter to the person attacking you how you actually identify. it's all about their perception of you and your gender in relation to their binary focused standards.
5
"bincary focused standards," lolwut? Can I bash you for over-using buzzwords? What's the literary equivalant of a biased-based bashing?
6
@ Graham, I think that's a "grad hominem attack."
7
@CC: Oooh... I like that. A lot.

Please wait...
