Blossoming Lotus. They totally have their game together and are constantly blowing my mind with the magic they manifest from raw and vegan ingredients.

There's a lot of talk in this town about creative ways to do Head Cheese, but true genius shines through when a restaurant can make tempeh and raw zucchini pasta into Ambrosia of the Sexually Appealing.

Plus, oh my god, their Pomegranate cheesecake and 'Coconut Dream' cocktail! WHAT?? THE?? So good.

Um, Biwa. Obviously.

Looks: Warm, sleek, modern, vintage.

Smarts: Best Japanese menu in Portland. Amazing bar menu. Late night menu is killer.

Approachability: The menu might be a little daunting for those unfamiliar with Japanese fare, but the waitstaff is always super helpful, fun, and informative. The 9-10pm bar menu is, and I quote the Mercury here, Unfuckwithable; super cheap eats and drinks that will fill your belly.

Biwa is a clear contender, if not outright winner.

I vote Biwa too. I would definitely date Biwa. I like Le Happy and all, but I feel like it would always be trying to hand-feed me figs and get me to go to cuddle parties.

Blossoming Lotus has their act together? We tried to go there on Friday night a week ago and it was slammed, with almost as many people waiting as sitting. That's OK if the staff is on it, but they didn't seem to be, with most of them standing around clustered near the register at the back, instead of working the tables to get them turned over, keeping in touch with all the people waiting, not letting people inadvertently jump the list because some customers didn't realize there was a backside to the waitlist instead of adding on to the bottom, etc. We ended up at Dalo's instead and were very happy to have attentive service and no throngs of yuppies to contend with.

Wow. I feel decidedly unsexy. Of all the restaurants listed above, I've only been to Acropolis and Magic Gardens. In other news, I have great taste in cheap steak and turkey burgers!

The restaurant that gives me the food I want with as little hassle as possible, and consistent service, flavor, and great taste? South Park.

I can't stand restaurants where someone's ass is in my face. many of the restaurants above have very little breathing room. Yeah even the T&A at Acropolis.

Having said that I haven't been to many restaurants in the past 5 years, many higher priorities going on.

Sapphire Hotel... Brunch is delicious and filled with luscious flavor. Cute waitresses fill my unlimited mimosas with a smile, decor is intimate with great lighting. Nighttime infused cocktails get me feeling sexy and the intimate low light is great for romance. #1 for sure!

PORTOBELLO's new location is amazing. the food is better than ever and now can fit the demand. reasonable pricing and total girl front.

I can agree with Sapphire Hotel... so intimate and romantic. But when I think of SEXY... lush, intimate, creative, service that's helpful but not intrusive, and menu items that always surprise you and make you think you possibly just got away with something dirty... I think of Gilt Club.

When I build my special basement room for sexy-time, it will look just like Gilt Club. That is all I have to say.
