I don't remember good views from fort george. I think it looks mostly just into the tall buildings across the street. Astoria brewing and the Rogue Brewery in Astoria are both right on the river with good views though.
Best lunch in Astoria is the Bowpicker fish n' chips stand down the street. You get big pieces of fried fresh albacore steak, and a whole bunch of fries for $9. Delicious!
My fave place to eat in Astoria is the Blue Scorcher. Wonderful baked good, fresh local ingredients, tasty soups and creative daily specials (their cardamom and honey latte is unique treat as well) :

Of course, they close at 5pm so not an option for dinner in Astoria (Fort George is a great option for that).
