This is great news. I fall into the much derided 'I just want it to be pretty' crowd. Maybe some of the raging architects in this town who have kept their powder dry on this issue will step up and prevent a repeat of that Glenn Jackson monstrosity.
I fall into the "I don't give two shits how big it is, as long as it includes light rail, and they STFU and build the goddamn thing already" camp. So, Camp Blabby?
It's a bridge design that hasn't been built before now, they don't know if it feasible to build it, and it will consume millions of dollars in testing the design. With the economy in the shape that it is, why just they don't build something that they know will work?
Ban trucks from the 205 and 405. Toll the 5 bridge just fix the alinement on the ship channel.
Put the light rail (yellow line) on the new 405 bridge next to the rail bridge leading into West Vancouver. Fix the alinement on the rail bridge for the ship channel.
What's that image, anyway? Looks like a new extension to an Epcot Center monorail.
That image is the current bridge design!
Put the light rail (yellow line) on the new 405 bridge next to the rail bridge leading into West Vancouver. Fix the alinement on the rail bridge for the ship channel.
Cheap and easy peazy.
