"Clean up after" is a little over-dramatic...the staff might just have to reshelve a few books. It's not like anyone's throwing them in the toilet...

2
Hopefully "your favorite bookstore" isn't carrying that title to begin with.
3
@Todd: Agreed.

Who wrote this post? A high school gym teacher? "And another thing, ladies...make sure you shower after basketball. I'll be checking."

[shudder]

Is this a silly protest? Sure. But not so much that it merits getting emotional. Lighten up, dude.

If "your favorite bookstore" is a mass market chain, good fucking luck moving that many books to the Crime section. If "your favorite bookstore" is a local chain, you're just being a douche doing this.

Besides, is "Crime" even a section? You'll have to pardon me, I'm full internet age.

@ Fruit Cup: "If "your favorite bookstore" is a mass market chain..."

then they are also a douche.
6
@Todd: He means all the American Spirit butts and kombucha bottles these asshats inevitably leave behind wherever they tread.

You don't really pull the neutral reader in with this one, Paul. Making an annoying facile protest against a different group's annoying facile protest just feeds the noise machine. At least the original stunt is somewhat clever; you just sound grumpy.
8
Is the book a sequel to "My Pet Goat"?
9
@Fruit Cup: There are usually Mystery and Suspense Fiction sections in U.S. bookstores, and also a True Crime section. In Britain there is often a fiction section labeled Crime. This campaign is an echo of one that got some attention in the UK after Tony Blair's book came out a couple of months ago.

I think the best reaction to Bush's book is to ignore it. It's mainly noteworthy because in the text he admits to directly authorizing waterboarding, which may lead to legal trouble for him someday. We can hope.

HOW TO TELL THEM APART:

J. E. "Jeb" Bush: Future political plans are vague

George H. W. Bush: Worked with Alexander Haig

George W. Bush: May end up retiring to The Hague

i say let the kiddos protest.
12
Missing the point- protests are expressions of an opinion.
Won't the moving of books stall sales? Won't it make the store less likely to carry more?
Why don't we just stop newspapers since they kill trees...
oh wait, then yu wouldn't have a job...

@spindles

I believe so, yes. I also believe the book jacket is designed so that it looks like you are reading the book upside down.

Find a way to protest that doesn't piss off people just trying to do their jobs.
