He should be fired. There's no excuse for these hardline right wing elements in our police force. They are doing a job for the people. They do not have any legitimacy outside of that which the people of the city give them. A man who would honor Nazi soldiers has no place policing the people of Portland. Right wingers, Nazi sympathizers, and fascists should automatically be assumed to be unfit for public service, especially as police officers or other government positions with which the ability to use force is endowed. It is well known that the far right will use violence, break the law, cover up and excuse abuses to further their political and racial beliefs. This isn't a punishment, it's unpaid vacation time.

Kruger's apology letter is a joke. Why doesn't he answer the following questions: 1) If you were trying to show respect for those that have served why did you decide to memorialize German Nazi soldiers instead of the American soldiers who killed and defeated the Fascists German military? 2) You say you would not have picked to memorialize anyone if you had known they were possibly war criminals, however, if not refusing illegal orders is a war crime then all Nazi German soldiers (especially officers) are war criminals. Why did you choose to memorialize German soldiers of WW2 and not some other country or era? 3) If you are not a Nazi sympathizer or supporter or active member why do you also own and wear Nazi soldier clothes and artifacts?

I'm so glad we're coming down hard on the whole 'Nazi' thing. It's nice that City Hall has really taken a stance here, and made this UnPaid leave for the officer.

How about we do the same thing for officers who shoot unarmed people?

Jeeesus! C'mon son! Nice fucking try on the apology note, Pahtner! What "student" of military history isn't aware of the role played by the people he is inexplicably erecting a (secret) memorial to? I believe this is what you call a clear case of a "jack sock" for "jack boots". Yo, Reese and Adams...Want to buy a bridge? It's in Sellwood.

@zombiesai: Um... they fired that guy. Get with the program, dumbass.

now folks, don't forget that Portland is named RIP CITY and
it sure earned extra bragging rights today for some serious
ripping, as they finally ripped some big-time ass down at the
Rip City Cop Shop that been long overdue...a goodly number
got their's ripped today...so the lesson-of-the-day is: the
windmill of the gods may grind ever so s-l-o-w-l-y, but
grind away it does! Thank God for the gods! Cheers!

Please wait...
