Uhm, I have the same concern (traduce it to paranoia) that I might slip earplugs too far in as in to damage something vital to my hearing in there.
I have tried for years only the spongy ones, (even those that bring down the volume like 60 Db´s or something rad like that). It´s time to do an upgrade on my nightly earplugs. Thanks for this article which has reminded me of something very vital to me as this.
Thanks Ezra, if I see em at a store, I´ll pick em up. I´ll try too the high end ones, with the same design, cuz lately I´ve been very disappointed with the spongy ones. Let´s see were I can find a good pair or two. Thanks.
Ezra,
I've been playing the drums for roughly 2 decades, and I'm super duper scared of my impending tinnitus. I've tried every kind of earplug imaginable, from 50 cent orange foamies to 75 dollar custom molded James Bond modules. And you know what? Those 50 cent orange buggers win every time. As far as comfort, ease, and letting-in-good-noise vs. keeping-out-bad-noise, those little orange guys are what I keep coming back to. But, that's just my preference.
On the other hand, these EarPeace plugs look cool as hell, and I like the keychain case. That's my one gripe with the orange foamies; they look fucking ridiculous.
Ezra, thanks. Just bought some and they work wonders and I don't look like the geek with the foam plugs anymore. @eldulce, they go just far enough in and they have a tab to pull them out. I'm sure you've put other things farther in other orifices and got them out just fine (oh snap, totally kidding, lol). Too bad they don't have a BUTT white color for my skin type!
(Conflict of interest, really? Wouldn't want the readers to think Ezra is receiving payola from EJ....)
