How many hours of gameplay do these notes represent?

Without actually turning the game on, I wanna say 60ish? 65ish? Something like that.

So, in the spirit of inquiry (not meaning to be snarky or mean), is that really worth it? The notes aren't that detailed, though sufficient for a 300 word review. I assume you would play the game anyway? Or is this something you are doing because you're getting paid for it? I assume that the Mercury isn't paying you for your 60+ hours spent 'working' on this review? Maybe you should explain more about what the process of writing a review is.

That's a fair question.

Basically, the reasoning behind this is that I get paid the same either way, but up until this idea popped up the notes that I took while playing -- which then informed and helped organize my reviews -- were going to waste. Given that the reviews top out at 330 words maximum and I've been known to write tens of thousands of words of notes, I thought I'd toss it to you people to see if you actually wanted to see such things that were otherwise just disappearing into the ether.

This is all a test. If it's shouted down, don't expect to see it again. But again: test.

I like the notes. It is similar to talking to a friend about games. You don't give a cohesive argument why you like or dislike a game; you give bullet points on why you like it.

I imagine PM is going for a casual gamer. I can't see anyone that takes more than a casual glance at games to come to you as a source, since you don't include many details that would be crucial to more mainstream gamers. So including extra nerdy details like this is almost likely to turn people off, rather than attract them to the review.

I like it.

I can't say that I come to the Mercury for my game reviews. But I do have the blog on my RSS and so, when I see games I might be potentially interested in (like this one) pop up, I check out what you have to say. Please sir, I want some more.

Please wait...
