Real Salt Lake? Is that like the "Real Ghostbusters"?
2
"Real" is Spanish for "royal", a title given to teams by the King of Spain (e.g. Real Madrid FC).

Real Salt Lake on the other hand, just decided to lift that name for themselves, much to the chagrin of people who actually care about this sport.

I prefer the Unreal Salt Lake of "Carnival of Souls."

@ Andy - I was thinking the same thing while watching this match. their name makes absolutely no sense, unless it's some veiled reference to Joseph Smith being king of the world.

good on the TImbers. love to see us closing out a game strong.

Salt Lake does have a "relationship" of sorts with Real Madrid. They're not married or anything, but Salt Lake didn't just start using the name without consultation. (Besides, this is America, we don't let kings decide what we do, SO THERE.)
