This news is most excellent. I hope they manage to pull it off. They have an excellent pizza, but that spot just seems like it'd be hard to run a business out of (assuming rent costs are super-high).
I predict Sizzle Pie kills it in this space. Good, cheap, (non-cart) food in a great location, with booze and vegan options. Rent might be high, but it's a great fit.
I hope you're right Mr. Perez! Again, not an expert on the restaurant industry. I just imagine this would be tough. As a Vegan, I often totally snubbed this spot when it was Rocco's. That "Vegan Pizza" sign was total BS: they did not offer vegan pizza by the slice. I mean, Pizza Hut can make a whole vegan pizza, it's not necessarily hard to do.
Really looking forward to Sizzle Pie opening here.
This is the best news I've heard in... FOREVER. I'm glad that corner will still be a pizza place and Sizzle Pie's $6 slice/salad special is a semi-steal I've been eating for an embarrassing number of meals recently.
This is excellent news. When you consider that the Sizzle pie coming soon was up for over a year at the East Burnside location, I would expect this new one to be serving fresh hot pies by 2014!!!1!!1
Really looking forward to Sizzle Pie opening here.
Tis much better than "za."
Sizzle Pie is the best by-the-slice pizza in Portland. Having one within my lunchtime roaming range is going to make me very fat and happy.
No surprise they jumped on that location - hello, downtown, hello fucking Powells tourists.
