BUILD IT !!
The population will expand greatly over the next decades and we cannot know how vehicles of the future will be fueled.

build it. and also do something with the rest of i-5 on it's course through portland. the rose quarter/84 interchange will still be a massive slowdown once/if the bridge is finished.

Why not toll it first and use the money to fix the rail bridge to reduce the congestion from bridge lifts. I say wait and see if we need a wider freeway. Not to mention the destruction to hayden island a wider freeway would entail, removing the only grocery store that hundreds of people have local access to makes no sense.

"Build it"? Yeah that's a brilliant plan. Because if there's one thing washington and Oregon need to be spending thousands of millions of dollars of our dollars on, it's enabling a few thousand Vancouverites to get in and out of Portland as quickly as possible.

Those commuters ARE THE PROBLEM. And I don't feel like showering my money on an effort to shore up their poor life choices, while draining funding from any number of worthwhile projects at the same time.
